Let's make a mess!

I know it's not a good idea but sometimes I just want to let him do what he wants to do even if it means making the biggest mess! The other day I just decided to do just that. I made zucchini and cut it into small bites for him and put it on his tray to eat. Boy did he love it. Feeding himself and making a big smooshy mess! Here is the video:



Other news - Arya is still pushing stuff and walking with them. He makes a cute sound like a car too when he does it. I will upload a video of that as soon as I can.

More independance

As days go by, I am noticing Arya becoming a little more independent. Playing toys on his own, eating on his own, and even visiting the pets by himself. I can't help but to feel a little proud. But a little part of me wants him to want me but I know it's not good to feel that way. I will keep it to myself and watch him from a distance even when I'm close by and just observe. This week Arya has been lifting himself up and trying to push a little car on his own. These two videos were after he did the task a few times already so he was a bit tired.

We also visited my uncle Reza & his wife for their son Kevin's birthday. We gave him gift certificates to FRYS so he was pretty happy :)

Arya at 9 months

Tomorrow Arya will be 9 months old! I have already noticed changes in him that were different from the prior month. Recently he has decided that he likes to feed himself. He grabs the spoon from you and moves it towards his mouth. He misses from time to time, but I think he has the idea. He has also let go of holding on a few times. Sometimes unexpectedly and other times on purpose. I am so excited when he starts walking on his own! Other things he's been doing is pulling on cabinets and drawers so we need to totally baby proof everything now, and pushing rolling items as he moves with his knees. I didn't have my camera for those. But this video, I did manage to take and that's with him and Ali playing hiding go seek. He loves this and will do it so many times!

Eid Mobarak! 1388 - Norooz is finally here.

Noroozeh Hameh Mobarak Basheh! We wish everyone the best of health, happiness and prosperity! We gathered together at our house for a small but festive Eid. I made the traditional Sabzi polo and Mahi (Herb rice with Fish). Unfortunately I didn't have all the ingredients for Kookoo sabzi (Herb Keish) but there was plenty of food and sweets for everyone. :) The kids had their own goodies and so did Sasha! :) Papa gave his eidee as well! Arya was a bit shy tonight for some reason he didn't dance in front of everyone and buried his head in Ali's arms. He wanted to stick to us like glue. Jamil hid a little too but I could see he danced a little to the music when we put it on :) The neat thing is that Arya has become more interested in how the toys work. Before it was just a taste and slobber fest! Nine months is just around the corner! Here are a few pictures of our night together. Kami & Jamil joined us and Tina came later but we didn't get a chance to get their pictures before they left. :(

Latest news

Well last week Arya got sick again. That bad cough came back and we've been trying to make sure he's ok. Luckily it's not super bad like the last time but the first night gave us quite a scare. He is also teething. Three bottom teeth so far and 2 top. So we've got coughing, runny nose and drool as well as achiness, crying more than usual and a suppressed appetite. So the best thing we can do is play with him as if nothing is wrong and make the best of this situation until it is gone.

Arya's First time at Fast Food Place

We decided to take Arya out and enjoy the town Sunday (3/8/09). He's been cooped up at home and not very social so we went to Burger King and he was enjoying watching people come and go, the kids with their parents and events all around. It was a nice day and he had some yummy yogurt and banana. Later we went to Walmart and drove around town. He loved being in the stroller front face now! It's a new adventure for him :)

I wish I had a camera stuck to me

Sometimes Arya does the most amazing things and it's usually when I don't have my camera. I get so wrapped up into him that I don't want to miss it because when I usually go get the camera he doesn't do what I want him to do anymore.
Let me tell you the kinds of things I've been observing.
Rolling - He will grab something that's smooth and slide it from one side of the room to the other. It could be a ball, a flat book or some other toy but he just decides to use it like you would use a board in the water or something.
Dancing - Yes! He's become quite a dancer shaking his tush. I couldn't believe it until every other song he's just doing the grind! hehehehe
Hide and go seek - We play this game whenever he finds something he thinks he can hide on.
