San Francisco & Arya's Procedure

This month will probably go down in history as the most difficult month of our lives....

Due to Arya's condition, he needed to have OHS done this month. So before we got to it, and since it was in San Francisco UCSF, we decided to go there earlier and enjoy some of the fun things to do with him.



Before our journey, we went and saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It was really good. All of us enjoyed it!



Then after arriving at San Fran we went to the Denny's inside the Holiday Inn and had some dinner.



Then to the hotel for some rest.


















We took a stroll on the Wharf and checked out Ripley's Believe it or Not. It was interesting.






We also got a chance to see Arya's favorite YouTuber "Dan TDM" live at the Masonic Center. It was filled with so many kids who love this guy from England who plays games on Youtube! Who would've thought?

Then after all the fun was over, came the dreaded time for the hospital...



We checked into UCSF Benioff Children's Hosipital on May 8th.



Arya got admitted to his own room and a series of tests began...echocardiogram, ekg, bloodwork, vitals, etc..






We kept ourselves busy in his room until the morning of the procedure.





Then the morning came around 7am and we went with our sweet Arya to the anesthesia area and operating room where we had to put on space looking clothes and kiss him goodbye for a bit. * cry *



When we got to see him in the ICU this was how he looked. Tubes everywhere and so many monitors.



It seem like an eternity for him to wake up. The procedure itself took 4 hours. It was called a Sub-aortic membrane resection. And another 4 hours waiting for him to come out of anesthesia. This picture (above) is when he was still under in the ICU.



When he woke up he had a tube in his throat and couldn't talk, but when the nurses asked him questions he would give us hand signals. After they took that long tube out we were so relieved.



Our days in the ICU were 3 - 9th, 10th, and 11th. then on the 11th we were moved to recovery.



Many more checkups and tests were conducted and daily chest xrays, Sometimes 2x a day.
But slowly he was able to move more and sit up. The pains were everywhere and the challenging parts were the medications he had to take and how his stomach did not like them at all.



They were trying to keep him busy with different things..games on the tv screen, visitors,...and one of them was the SF PD came to visit and play with him




We started our walks and that helped get his body moving on the inside.



The nights were long and challenging. Sleep deprivation had become the norm.



The rosy cheeks returned and that beautiful smile. And slowly more tubes came off and bandages.



My baby was sick of everything and so badly wanted to come home. His tummy had become pretty messed up from all the meds and vomiting and bathroom issues. But the good thing was the hardest part was over. THis was minor.



Thankfully we were able to make it back home saturday May 13th, the day before mother's day. :)

We thank You, God for being our rock and so thankful that everything went well and we were able to give Arya the quality care that he needed to fix his condition. Happy days are ahead and a long road for recovery...but slowly and surely we look towards the rainbow....

April ...

It's that time of year when you get teased with the nice awesome weather only to  have it every once in a while because of the spring showers.

While I clean and organize in the house, Arya plays with his video games and toys and Sundays we get to see Kamran, Tina, Jamil and Jasmine.



The end of this month though, Arya got some type of allergy/cold so we kept him home from school....



The only unfortunate thing that came from that is when he ate so much rhubarb and ended up losing his taste buds for a few days. It tripped me out, but thankfully it returned but slowly.

Norooz 1396!

There's a special feeling when Spring comes every season. With the sound of the birds chirping, the gentle breezes, the pretty flowers blooming everywhere, and the sweet smell of the air and occasional rain ...You can find a sense of renewal.



I really believe Norooz is that for me. A time for renewal. Renewing the spirit, renewing the mind, renewing the old and becoming the new. Refreshing oneself and healing oneself to be better than the year before.



It is a blessing to have the opportunity when we are reminded of things. Especially such a beautiful reminder...
The reminder that whatever has faded can find color again, whatever was cold can become warm, whatever was worn can be fixed up and used again.

Thank You God for our daily reminders and beautiful seasons that show us Your Glory, Your splendor, Your Goodness.

Our Norooz Table this year was decorated by Nana's blue tablecloth and flowers along with some of the things I had before. 

Thanks to her hard work to make us the best food to eat together...




The kids got to enjoy fun times and gifts





And we gathered again for pictures pictures and more pictures.

Ali and Marjan's 15 year Anniversary

Has it really been that long? Goodness 15 years has already passed since we have been married.

Azita and Joseph visit

It had been many years since we had seen Azita joon in Sacramento, but we were so happy when she told us she would like to come with Joseph to see us.

Arya had a chance to get to know her Ameh and Joseph which turns out to be a gamer (a plus in Arya's book) :)

They were with us a short 3 days but it was memorable and a true treat to be with them.

Arya got a new Xbox One with a few games and he was excited to learn.

We went sight seeing around the town a little bit and had a chance to chill and Joseph showed us his amazing and impressive photography skills :) 

Nana, Papa, Kamran, Tina Jamil & Jasmine also came by. 

They left us with their warmth and kindness. And we will treasure it always.
